Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The first series contains Memorandums of Agreement between the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and Miami University of Ohio. These documents are the physical representation of the relationship between these two entities. The second series is comprised of the varying exhibits and conferences that have been held at Miami University through the relationship between the Tribe and University. Some of these events have been through the Myaamia Center or its predecessor, the Myaamia Project; however, due to the long standing relationship, some of these events even preceded the creation of the Myaamia Project. The third series is a collection of pamphlets and other kinds of publications that were created by the Myaamia Project in the early 2000s. The fourth series deals with classes from Miami University that have worked with the tribe or the Myaamia Center/Project. The three classes currently within this series are HST 372: Native America since 1815, ENG 694, and ARC 301/302/401/402: Cultural Design Studio. HST 372 worked with the Myaamia Project to provide the students with information regarding the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. English 694 was a graduate level course that created a pamphlet for the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma to help tribal members preserve or donate their family documents. The Architecture class worked with the Tribe to create designs for a Cultural Center in Oklahoma.
